Alex first began playing the piano at the age of two and started lessons three years later. It was around this time that she discovered that she had perfect pitch, which has proved to be enormously useful throughout her musical life.

As a young child she regularly performed her own technically advanced original solo piano compositions to large public audiences.

Throughout her teens she was equally as musically active, consistently performing at concerts both in and out of school playing original piano and group work.

At 14 she became involved with her first professional band who were all in their thirties. She was performing at pubs and clubs on a regular basis and became well known within the local circuit. She has been professionally performing now for almost 20 years in no fewer than twenty-nine different bands as well as a solo artist.

As a natural transition Alex studied music to degree level where she took her final performance in opera (having gained entry as a pianist). She turned down a scholarship to study opera at The Royal Northern College of Music to concentrate on the popular side of music, which was by now beginning to generate an income.

After graduating she immediately began lecturing the new undergraduates in Musicology and Film/TV Music in an unprecedented post created by the Department of Music.

Since university she has worked consistently as a session singer as well as performing full-time professionally at functions both as a classical and popular artist. She made various lead-vocalist appearances with bands in Melbourne and Sydney, Australia, and has also entertained as a pianist aboard cruise liners throughout Europe.

She wrote, produced and engineered in the studio with her originals band for ten years in association with Universal Music and indeed made the top 10 in the download charts in the USA and UK. They built up a substantial and loyal fan-base. She has also recorded and produced several albums as a solo artist and continues to work in the studio both on her own material and as an external producer to other bands and artists.

Alex has been greatly involved professionally with various stage productions, as musical director and vocal coach to the cast, rehearsal pianist and orchestral leader and is often employed to transcribe, arrange and orchestrate the music for such shows.

In 2000 she and two colleagues set up a music production company and worked on dozens of TV advertising campaigns, with Alex providing the vocals and voice-overs for commercials throughout the world, as well as primetime BBC1 trailers and BBC and commercial radio jingles throughout the UK, including Radio 1. She exclusively provided vocals for the entire UK commercial radio network for the Hit 40 UK national countdown chart every Sunday for five years, and still records regularly for television and radio.

She has toured Europe extensively with international signed bands and solo acts, playing stadiums throughout, and has also provided backing vocals for Enrique Iglesisas during a promotional tour which included various TV appearances.

In 2007 she attained the resident slot at The Ritz Hotel in London, singing and playing weekly in the restaurant and casino.

Alex taught singing, piano and GCSE music both in schools and privately for six years as well as tutoring BTEC and degree-level students in recording studio techniques and instrumental lessons.

She left teaching in 2007 to make a solo trip for a year around the world, including an ascent of Mount Everest, before travelling through Asia, Indonesia, Australasia, the South Pacific and the USA.

Alex then decided to relocate to southern France, living and working in Nice as a singer and pianist. Within one month of arriving was performing throughout the area every single night, and had built up a considerable following. She returned to the UK in 2009 to continue high profile appearances and shows.
